Sunset from the back garden this past Monday.
(ETA @ 2010-09-21 1525h) Here is a screenshot of Adobe Bridge showing the raw (right) and edited (left) images:
For both, I tweaked the white balance, decreased exposure a touch and did a slight tone curve adjustment to highlights and shadows using Lightroom. For the bottom image, I cloned out the tree branches in Photoshop.

Oh thank you for the explanation. I do not have Lightroom, but have to get familiar with Gimp. I'm not sure if you get the same results ...

As for Gimp, I'm not familiar with it but I just went and looked at the website and it definitely looks like you can do the same kind of adjustments.
cougar, I used the GIMP back before I was able to afford Photoshop and it's a really good program. A few of it's workings are a bit strange but overall it's almost as powerful as PS. You can definitely get the same results as Lightroom or PS, just takes some time to figure the program out.
