December already!?

Ice on burning bush

Oh, where has the time gone. Can't believe it's been so long since my last post. I got carried away into the November doldrums, I guess ... ;-)

Thank you all so much for the wonderful comments on the Quebec City post. It was a magical trip, and I'm happy to see that that came across in my photos. I would whole-heartedly recommend visiting, in any season. I've been in summer and now fall, but I imagine it would be even more amazing with snow on the ground.

For those who are interested in experimental portraiture, creativeLIVE is hosting Jeremy Cowart -- of Help-Portrait fame -- Thursday and Friday for another online workshop. I've heard Jeremy speak a few times, and really like his demeanour and his focus on the art and craft of photography. Here's the link to the course info and urls to watch it live. (It's free for the live viewing, plus they usually offer a re-watch a few hours after the live broadcast.)

Spider web frost

Those in the northernly regions, hope you're all staying warm (and out of those doldrums!) .

  1. Brrr -- it wasn't already cold here, those would have done it for me. Love 'em all but the last one is just spectacular.

  2. Hi Andi. It's so dark outside right now, I have all the lights on and the curtains drawn ... blech. This time of year is not the most pleasant.

BTW, thanks for stopping by my place and leaving such a lovely note. You're welcome any time.

  4. Hi Candis,

this morning I waited 20 minutes for my train and it was about minus 10 degrees ... Germany sinks in snow right now.

I like the last one. There is a great contrast between the cold iced spider net and the warm colors in the background. Amazing!

  5. Carolynn -- thank you! :-)

Hi cougar! Haven't talked with you for some time. Brrrr, that sounds like a chilly commute. How much snow do you have at the moment? We've had a couple snow days, two freezing rain days and now we're having lots of rain.

  7. Oh, we do have over 20 cm of snow ... in the cities. It must be much more in the hills. Here you have some pictures from a german newspaper (don't panic, only click on the photos to get the next showing, you don't need to know any german word ;-) :

  8. oh the sights of winter everywhere! ;-) Candis, this year I've been trying a dose of vitamin D3 (around 2000 IU's) to try and combat the winter blah's, particularly with this early darkness. So far I seem to notice a difference, I'm more focused and motivated. If your not already taking a supplement you might want to give it a try. It's cheap and for the most part harmless.

  9. Lovely photos, Candis. Each is spectacular in it's own way but I have to agree that the last is mind blowing. I didn't even know that ice crystals could form on a spider web. Beautiful!!

Scott -- Interesting! I'll check that out. :)

CF! Nice to see you ... Hope you and d and the furry love are doing well too.

Georgianna, Kate -- that spider web frost was one of those lucky moments, for sure, especially with the fall leaf colour in the background. :)
