Camargue horses

Camargue horses

Note for Andi -- my newly re-built hard drive crashed on Sunday, and I have made it all the way through Kübler-Ross' stages of grief to Acceptance today. ;-) I did make a cloned version of the rebuilt drive that is only a few weeks out-of-date, so not completely dire. But, my confidence in electronic media has been shaken. All that to say, this is the reason I haven't posted the new photos this week!

  1. Ouch, never good, happy to hear you had a fairly recent backup. I have two backup drives. One that I backup to at least monthly and then that drive to another at least twice a year. Been thinking of online storage for the "special images". If you ever completely lose a drive and need someone to try and pull data from it, I have the equipment to try. That's assuming the drive isn't completely dead but just corrupt. Just drop me an e-mail.

    1. Hi Scott! Thanks for the commiseration and the offer. Will send an email.

After the last big fail I've been working with three (so the photos exist in three separate locations). I still have two back-ups -- the cloned version 3 weeks out of date and then the other drives which have all the photos, just scattered over many. The primary one I was using had collated all the images into one Lr catalogue. Now I've got to figure out how to go forward. I'm thinking about having two primaries that I work from -- each day I use a different one, plus the two back-ups. Not sure yet.

  2. Damn, I am so sorry to hear it. This is why I have pictures 4 versions of my photographs. I have my main drive, a backup drive, an offsite backup drive (that gets brought back to the house to be backed up once a month), and my SD card on which I keep all images until they are backed up on the offsite drive.

    Lovely pastoral shot.

    1. Thanks Andi. Sounds like a good bup system.
