Peace and Freedom* atop the National War Memorial in Ottawa.
A couple viewing the memorial.
A bit different this week.
* From wikipedia [link]: Symbolically, two 5.33-metre-high (17.5 ft) allegories of peace and freedom stand at the apex of the arch, their proximity to each other representing the inseparability of the two concepts, under which the depictions of 22 Canadian service-men, from all branches of the forces engaged in the First World War in historically correct uniforms, move towards the call of duty.

Visiting old friends
Didn't get out to Jack Pine much this summer and fall -- only a handful of times. This was taken on the last outing before the snow set in.

Sunrise making the swamp look pretty.
I've had the opportunity* to re-visit and re-edit old images while I put together a new Lr catalogue after the master corrupted (think I've mentioned this before.).
Posted this image previously, but in this new version I've lightened up the foreground.
*lemons, lemon-aid, etc.

Maranta leaves
Nifty patterns on Maranta leaves (or as it is more commonly known, the prayer plant). Click for a bit larger view (on flickr).

Seasonal Jack Pine Trail
Autumn and summer.
Slightly different angles.
Winter.
I looked for a spring version, but didn't find a photo of that part of the trail. It looks like the winter scene, minus the snow (bare tree limbs, a bit of new green grass on the path, etc.).
