New leaves
Finally!
Beautiful, soft, new leaves.
Green.
Yellow.
Peach.
Still some brown, but just the right amount.
:D

It's a dangerous business going out your door.
It's a dangerous business going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.

Much better to stay in bed.
Ha!

Randoms from a quick visit to the Ornamental Gardens
Monday. First visit of the season to see what's new, what's growing at the moment. Disappointed to see the Japanese Maple is gone from the fountain area. The tulips have just come up -- quite a few have opened, but it looks like most will open within the next few days. The blossoms on the trees have just started -- only a few buds here and there. Some of the lilacs have budded as well. On the whole though, things are just getting started. It's nice to see all the green!

Colour all around: Photos taken over the weekend
Above - Bright yellow leaves appearing on the tree-tops, against a pretty blue sky.
In the middle - Flaming spiraea japonica, with its new red, pink and orange leaves against the grey dead wood.
Below - Soft and delicate greens of the sweet woodruff spreading all over the ground.
Finally!
It wasn't looking too good at the beginning of the week - last Monday we awoke to a nasty surprise.
I took a few iPhone shots to document the wretched occasion.
The poor critters.
It was a minor setback though, and mostly melted by that afternoon.
Thankfully.
But, here's the sure sign that spring has really, truly arrived - babies!
An advisory note - I'm fiddling with the blog layout, so please excuse the inevitable mess-ups that will occur.
