    1. LOL maryb -- you wouldn't believe the sad looking cardinals we've had here. The worst is a male that went fully bald (apparently a normal occurrence). You could see his wrinkly grey head. He looked like a skeksis from The Dark Crystal. I think I tweeted a photo of it ... let me get the link.

      This one is a juvenile, with the black beak. I'm not sure if it's male or female though. The juvenile feather colour is pale.

  3. Great shot. Especially when you think of the difficult light conditions. With my camera, the head would be overexposed, and the rest dark ... :-)

  5. Wow, stunning lighting, Candis. Love this mini series of birds! I wish we had cardinals. They are beautiful.

    Right now, the most activity in the garden is the squirrels decimating our hazelnut tree. :) xo
